Game 5 of the bout between Lakers-Rockets took place on Saturday in which the Lakers eliminated the Rockets and moved on to the Western Conference finals.

An 119–96 defeat brought on by the Lakers, key stars as in Lebron James and Anthony Davis both contributed to the win, punching a ticket to the Conference finals for the first time since 2010. The last time the Lakers touched the finals a different crew was in town. Among that crew, was the Lakers pride and joy, the heart of Los Angeles, legend Kobe Bryant, whom passed back in Late January. This is not a coincidence, as Lebron James knows.

Back in January, following the icon’s death, James made a post immediately about continuing the Laker legacy.

The team has continued Kobe’s legacy as they go on with the season. Throughout the playoffs, the Lakers wore the “Black Mamba” jerseys, patched with the number 2 for Kobe’s daughter Gianna, who also passed. Members of the team, including Anthony Davis have said the team continously pays homage to Kobe.

The team is now 8–2 in the playoffs and looking towards playing the Denver Nuggets on Friday, Sept. 18.

A winning franchise with a goal, some of the best playmakers in the game, and a legacy to honor are hoping to be on their way to a historic tying 17th championship.
